Cheech & Chong Launch New Mobile Video Game

May 8, 2024 · MG Magazine

The iconic comedy duo with a cannabis licensing empire launched a new mobile video game this week, adding to the brand’s expanding lineup of product launches for 2024 with new consumer goods, infused beverages, and dispensaries.

The release of Cheech & Chong’s Kush Kingdom marks the second collaboration between the cannabis industry veterans and East Side Games Group. In 2020, the team launched Cheech & Chong Bud Farm. It’s earned an iOS store rating of 4.8/5 stars in the U.S. with more than three million total installs.

“With Cheech & Chong’s Kush Kingdom, we’re not just launching a game—it’s a gateway for all to immerse themselves in the Cheech & Chong universe,” said Jace Bueno, chief operating officer at Cheech & Chong’s Global Holding Company. We invite everyone to step into a world where they can connect, laugh, and experience everything Cheech & Chong stand for, both digitally and in real life.”

East Side Games Group is no stranger to the intersection of popular television shows and mobile gaming. The company has a diverse portfolio of licensed IP with games related to The Office, Star Trek, Doctor Who, RuPaul’s Drag Race Superstar, and Trailer Park Boys.

“I grew up watching Cheech & Chong’s films”, said Dave Walls, chief executive officer at the casual game company and development partner Funkitron. “The team put a lot of love and care into creating this game, ensuring that it captures the essence of Cheech & Chong’s humor and charm.”

Whether a mobile video game can truly capture the essence of Cheech & Chong is debatable, but this successful collaboration has apparently been able to capture enough revenue to make it worth everyone’s time again. (Full Story)
