Rhode Island’s licensed marijuana retailers sold more adult-use cannabis than ever in September, according to newly released state numbers. Overall sales, however, fell just a hair short of a $9.67 million monthly record in August due to a drop in medical cannabis purchases. September sales of recreational cannabis products totaled $7,116,727.00, according to the latest numbers from the Rhode Island Department of Business Regulation. Rhode Island is one step closer to decriminalizing so-called “magic mushrooms” statewide. The House approved legislation Monday that would allow Rhode Islanders to possess up to one ounce of psilocybin or grow magic mushrooms at home for personal use. Marijuana retailers in Rhode Island generated $8.7 million in total sales from Feb. 23 to March 23. The sales total for adult-use and medical cannabis products in the nation’s tiniest state represented a 17.4% increase month-over-month, according to the latest data from the Rhode Island Department of Business Regulation.
